Jaigarh Fort
Enroute to Nagargarh Fort, the Kuchchwaha dynasty used the Fort as its treasury. The world's biggest canon on wheels is positioned here and dates back to 1720, built by Maharaja Sawai Jai singh II. It has a 20 feet long barrel and the wheels have a 9 feet diametere. For a single shot from the cannon, 1900 kg of fun power had to be pumped in.
Gaitor
The cenotaphs of the rulers of Jaipur are situated here. In sharp contrast is the cenotaph of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II which stands out with its white cupola resting on intricately carved columns of marble. Bas reliefs lend an ornamental quality to all the cenotaphs.
Zoological Gardens
The zoo at Jaipur is known for its exotic species of birds and animals and Crocodiles are a special attraction.Central Museum
Known as Albert Hall, it lies in the sprawling Ram Niwas Garden. The hall was built in 1887 Ad for the reception of Prince Albert and has a pleasant blend of Oriental and Victorian architecture. It displays a rich collection of textiles, dress, wood carvings, pottery, Ivory carvings, metalware, stone and metal sculpture and paintings belonging to different Rajasthani schools.
Galta
11 km, a pilgrimage centre where Saint Galta undertook penance. At the crest of the complex is the Sun Temple built by Rao Kirpa Ram during the reign of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. A spring spews out of the mouth of a stone carved cow.Moti Dongri and Lakshmi Narayan Temple
Moti Dongri is a privately owned hilltop fort built like a scotish castle. The Ganesh Temple at the foot of the hill and the marvellous Lakshmi Narayan Temple built in marble a few years back, are also noteworthy.
Sanganer
16 km, primarily an out-sized village, Sanganer's sarees and fabrics, hand printed in cotton, enjoy a global popularity. Nearby are the ruins of the 15th century Jain Temple, the Krishna Kalyanji Temple and a Kirti Stambha, a commemorative pillar in white marble.
Sisodia Palace
8 km, built in 1774 palace is replete with galleries and gardens, halls and bathing ponds. The place is revered by the royal family of Rajasthan for the princess of Udaipur,who was later married to Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh, here gave birth to the male heir of the Jaipur dynasty, prince Madho Singh.
Govind Devji Temple
The most popular spireless temple of Jaipur dedicated to Lord Krishna. It is located in the central pavillion of the Jai Niwas Garden to the north of Chandra Mahal. The image of the patron deity - Govind Devji, originally installed in a temple of Vrindavan, was reinstalled here by Sawai Jai Singh II as his family deity.
Swargsuli (Isar Lat)
The highest tower dominating the skyline on the western side of the Tripolia Bazaar. It was built by Sawai Ishwari Singh in 1749 AD to commemorate a grand victory.
B M Birla Planetarium
The Planetarium offers unique audio-visual education and entertainment with its modern computerised projection system. For school groups concessions are available. Closed on last Wednesday of every month.
